Other Info
What to take
Bedding and towels will be supplied but you will need to bring your own towels if you are planning to use the beach or pool.
Currency
Since 1st January 2008 the currency is the Euro (EUR). For the latest exchange rate click HERE. You will need some currency to pay for a taxi to get to the apartment. A taxi should cost about €35. There is an exchange shop on the complex which offers good rates. You can also exchange money at the hotels & banks.
Buses
Buses are frequent and only cost about 2 EUR to places in and around Paphos.
Hire Cars & mopeds
There are three hire car companies on the complex but it is worth shopping around to get the best deal. You will need to have a full UK driving license with you. Cypriots drive on the left the same as the UK and all road signs are in English and Greek. As for hiring mopeds don't bother, they are too dangerous.
Paphos market
The market is open Monday - Saturday until 1pm, Saturday is the pick of the days to visit, you can get there by bus. (Closed Bank Holidays)
Eating out
You will find a good selection of restaurants serving a wide range of foods. The specialty in Cyprus is the "Meze" which can be all fish or if you prefer a mixed one (fish and meat). This will cost about 12 EUR per person. This is made up of between 10 -20 local dishes and I would strongly recommend you try one of these while you are there. Our favourite restaurant for this is Viva Cyprus - when walking towards the harbour this can be found in the first lot of restaurants (about a 2 minute walk). Full English breakfasts are very popular with holiday makers, they are good value usually costing about 4 EUR. Beer prices start from 2 EUR for a pint for a local Keo and 4 EUR for an imported brand. In a supermarket a bottle of brandy will set you back about 10 EUR and a bottle of wine about 4 EUR. A loaf of bread and a pint of litre of milk are just over 1 EUR.
Duty Free Allowances
Cyprus has recently joined the EEC, therefore your allowance would be the same as going to France.......loads! www.heathrow-airport-guide.co.uk/dutyfree.html
Time Difference
Cyprus always stays 2 hours ahead of the UK time, as they move their clocks forward and backward the same time as we do.
Water Park There is a water park located on the edge of Paphos (5 minute drive away) with all the usual slides etc. You can get there by bus. www.aphroditewaterpark.com
